James Campion

James Campion serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Hamilton Square Partners Management, LP. James is a senior finance and operations executive with over 20 years of experience building and leading infrastructure at top-tier hedge funds and alternative investment firms. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations and Portfolio Finance at D1 Capital Partners, where he led the development of the firm’s operational platform from inception. In this role, he oversaw fund operations, portfolio financing, and performance analytics across public and private portfolios, while managing key broker relationships, regulatory initiatives, and investor due diligence.

Prior to D1, James held senior operations roles at Shelter Growth and Eton Park, with responsibilities spanning multi-asset trade operations, treasury management, and infrastructure development. Earlier in his career, he served as Operations Controller at R6 Capital, and began his career at International Fund Services. James holds a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany, with minors in Business Administration and Sociology.
